Yesterday afternoon, José Antonio del Rey, operations manager at Viaqua, attended the presentation and gave a motivational talk to the students on the dual water vocational training course as they started the new academic year.

The director of the Politécnico, José Manuel Leis, stated that vocational training ‘is a magnificent means of joining the labour market and carrying on studying’, and highlighted its good results. Jose Antonio del Rey went on to express his satisfaction with the results of the first year and the work experience provided by the company to all the students: ‘It was the first year of this course and we didn't know how it would work out, but the experience has been great for us, for the students and for the workers. Employees realised that these people hadn't just come to pass the time, but to learn’.

‘If I had to suggest how the work experience could be improved, I wouldn't know what to say. Everything went better than expected’. These were the opinions of last year’s work experience students at Viaqua, who this year are keen to complete their training and enter the labour market.

The dual water vocational training course is new in Galicia and trains students as technical specialists in the complete water cycle. It represents a new professional training opportunity which, thanks to the partnership between the Department of Education and the private initiative by Viaqua, broadens possibilities for new students to enter the labour market, in this case in the water industry.
