Viaqua, leader in the integral management of the water cycle, is fully committed to taking care of air quality and reducing its carbon footprint, an indicator that measures direct and indirect emissions of greenhouse gases caused by a product or service throughout its life cycle. Specifically, in 2018 100% of the energy consumed by Viaqua was coming from green energy sources, thus reducing its emissions by 21,783 Tons of CO2 (equivalent to CO2 captured by a forest of about 416 pines).

From Suez Spain has been marked a 'road map' in the fight against climate change and air pollution, is the so-called Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development (2017-2021), closely linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) approved by the United Nations in 2015 together with the 2030 Agenda. By 2021, Viaqua will reduce by 90% its CO2 emissions derived from electricity consumption, following the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development.

To promote green mobility, 21% of Viaqua's cars are hybrid or electric and 5% of the vans are electric, which means that 26% of their fleet is sustainable (and this percentage increases every year).

Viaqua is also a pioneer in the transformation of traditional wastewater treatment plants into biofactories, which reduce CO2 emissions and minimize the carbon footprint. As is the case of the WWTP of Ourense, considered the "Biofactoría Norte" thanks to the Mixed Unit CIGAT-BIOFACTORÍA developed by Cetaqua and Viaqua with the support of the Xunta de Galicia.

Air quality is an important value within the business culture of Viaqua, which advocates a new model of relationship with the planet. The fight against climate change and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals is a challenge that affects us all.
