Viaqua promotes smart consumption of tap water to celebrate World Water Day

At Viaqua, we will be celebrating World Water Day on 22 March, just as we have done every year since it was established by the United Nations to highlight the need to guarantee universal access to this limited resource and promote its sustainable management.

‘Nature-based solutions’ is the official theme for 2018, the year in which Viaqua seeks to foster smart consumption of tap water. Current regulations ensure that this is the most closely controlled water in the world, and it also provides innumerable health benefits.

During the week, numerous activities have been programmed throughout the region, such as information marquees in the cities of Santiago de Compostela and Ourense; open days at the wastewater and drinking water treatment facilities run by the company; prize-giving ceremonies for the winning school students in the 4th ‘Stories of Smart Water’ Literary Competition; and, new this year, a water tasting activity at the As Coiñás wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Ourense for the media, so they can discover and distinguish the physical and organoleptic characteristics of the liquid.

For kids, the Aqualogía adventure returns to schools in town where the brand operates, explaining the urban water cycle through fun experiments and interactive resources.

The city of Ourense already hosted the new and hugely successful Aquae Talent Hub on the 15th, the third such event to be held in Galicia; and Viaqua is also sponsoring the El Correo Gallego Forum: ‘Nature for water: efficiency in water management’ with a number of renowned speakers, followed by a round table discussion.

On the social media, via our Twitter account @VIAQUA we will also be joining the official campaign and publicising all our activities with the hashtag #todoesagua. Follow us and join our celebrations of World Water Day.
